What a Sunday!

Blessed. Humbled. Encouraged. Empowered. Challenged. Loved. Those are just a few words that describe how we feel this week after what was one of the greatest Sundays of our lives.

This past Sunday, August 14, First Baptist Tucker truly blessed us. After morning worship they put together a wonderful banquet, celebrating our pending departure. While our leave date is not yet set, we are on the road so much that we don’t know when we’re going to be back at church, so this was a good time to celebrate!  All the warm wishes, both spoken to us that day and written in cards, reminded us that we are not in this ministry alone. We have friends and family who are active participants with us in the work we will do in Chile.

If that were all that happened, it would have been enough, but at 6:30 FBC Tucker held a service of ordination for me. I was humbled even at the prospect of being ordained, and the service was absolutely beautiful. All the words of encouragement, challenge, and love, whether spoken loudly from the pulpit or whispered in our ears during the laying on of hands, will go with us for the rest of our lives.

From the very beginning of this journey to today, our church family has supported and encouraged us. From the “A Taste of Chile” to the Yard-Sale and BBQ to the banquet and ordination, they have continually shown us kindness. We look forward to many years of partnership, working together in the Tucker community and among the Aymara of northern Chile. We are blessed, indeed.
